My name is Rob Wendel.  I am a  3rd generation fisherman, originally from Arlington Heights, IL. I grew up fishing with my dad on nearby lakes, rivers, ponds and of course... Lake Michigan. We regularly took advantage of the  clear water, the abundance of fish, and the serene seas.
In 2002, I started college at University of Wisconsin-Parkside. I felt like I was missing too many opportunities while fishing on shore, but at the same time knew it was not practical to own a boat while still in school.   During my senior year of college, I finally decided to buy a kayak.    The moment I brought my kayak home I bolted on some rod holders and grabbed my tackle.  Having never kayaked before I ventured onto Lake Michigan looking for salmon.  I did not take long before I heard my drag scream.  After a long and intense battle I landed a thriteen pound chinook salmon.   The experience  was extraordinary and I became hooked on kayak fishing.

Since then I have fished almost exclusivley from a kayak.  I promote the sport through teaching anglers how to fish from kayaks and  also a member of the Hobie Fishing Team.
